The hammer is comprised of a supple, flexible handle which acts as a spring for superficial tapping of the dermis (skin). It displays a tightly bunched ‘plum-blossom’ needle configuration on the back-side of the head and ‘seven-star’ micro-needle configuration on the face.
The dermal hammer is a versatile tool that has been used in Chinese medicine for thousands of years. Dermal hammering is effective for releasing heat and chronic stagnation of underlying areas and is also well known for its use in treating alopecia (male pattern baldness). Dermal hammering is thought to have benefits of increasing circulation, collagen production of the skin, reduce scarring from acne and reducing the fine lines of wrinkles with cosmetic applications.
